You can have self-confidence and secure, loving relationships.
Therapy with me can help.
I’m a licensed professional counselor. I specialize in relationship, sexual, and gender issues, trauma and attachment issues, and mindfulness. I provide both individual therapy and couples/relationship therapy. I work by video with adults throughout Florida, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico (including Miami, Phoenix, Tampa, Denver, Orlando, Jacksonville, Tucson, Albuquerque, and Colorado Springs) from my home city of Tucson, Arizona.
In our therapy relationship, you’ll experience connection, acceptance, safety, and trust; this can be healing in itself. We’ll start by exploring and making sense of your challenges—compassionately and collaboratively. We can explore patterns of thought and behavior that contribute to your challenges so you can change these patterns. We can also use EMDR, guided imagery, and mindfulness to activate your mind’s natural ability to heal, going deeper than words, into realms of feeling, imagination, and focused attention. I believe you’ll find that I bring exceptional clarity, integrity, and creativity to our therapy work. I look forward to connecting!
Relationship, Sexual, and Gender Issues
I can help with relationship challenges (like navigating dating, love, commitment, conflict, monogamy, polyamory, and breakups). Throughout your relationship journey, I can provide insight, help you develop a more secure attachment style, and strengthen relationship skills (like self-awareness, empathy, communication, collaboration, and boundaries).
I take an open, non-judgmental approach to addressing sexual challenges (like high or low desire, shame/embarrassment about desires, and difficulty meeting sexual expectations). I can also help with gender-related challenges (such as clarifying/accepting your gender identity and clarifying how you want to express gender). A way forward toward wholeness, vitality, and peace of mind can be revealed through a respectful, compassionate exploration of your experiences, values, and desires.
Trauma and Attachment Issues
Do you anxiously seek emotional closeness with others, avoid it with disdain, or swing between seeking closeness and pulling away in fear? If so, you may have an insecure attachment style (related to challenges in your early relationships with parents or caregivers). Have you been through distressing life experiences (like abuse, neglect, sexual assault, or extended difficult periods of life)? If so, you may have upsetting memories, flashbacks, or nightmares, and you may feel agitated, irritable, or wary; these are symptoms of psychological trauma.
I can use EMDR therapy and guided imagery with ideal parent figures (which are effective therapies for trauma and attachment issues) to help free you of trauma symptoms and help you develop a more secure attachment style (where you feel comfortable with both emotional closeness and emotional distance). As you heal and grow, you’ll gain self-confidence, self-esteem, and peace of mind, and you’ll become better prepared for healthy relationships.
Mindfulness
Do you often feel distracted? Do you have trouble concentrating? Have you lost the vitality, energy, and joy you may have had when you were younger? If so, mindfulness meditation practices may help you regain your focus and re-establish your connection to the vitality available in present moment experience. Mindfulness can also be an important foundation for further explorations of nonduality (both the nonduality of self and other, and the nonduality of awareness/experience and its contents); many people have found such explorations meaningful and helpful.
For those drawn to the practice of meditation, I am glad to be a guide to the basics and beyond. I start with evidence-based meditation practices whose efficacy has been scientifically demonstrated. If meditation has spiritual or religious significance for you, I will encourage you to seek additional support and guidance within the spiritual or religious traditions you feel drawn to. I have been practicing meditation for over two decades; it has been a significant catalyst for my healing, growth, and well-being.
